I have been in a dead alliance by myself for like a year. Anyway i decided a week ago to join one. All seems fine. The leader made me in charge while they are offline and i lowkey have no idea what i am meant to do so i have been trying my best. Suddenly there are new people joining asking to be r5. I said to ask the original leader because i dont want to be doing the wrong thing plus i dont even know how.
They responded that the leader told them this was okay. Is this a tactic of some sort? I asked the original leader and they havent responded so i dont actually believe them.
Don’t change anyone to R5 until the original leader confirms it directly to you. “The leader said it was okay” isn’t enough when that instruction came through the person requesting the rank.
Tell them the request is pending and ask the leader to confirm it in alliance chat or a direct message. It could be a misunderstanding or an attempt to pressure you, but either way, a genuine request can wait. If the leader stays silent, leave the ranks unchanged.
Don’t waste time trying to prove whether it’s a tactic—the useful move is to make the temporary handoff transparent. Post that you’re only covering routine alliance duties, then keep a short list of each R5 request, who made it, and why they say they need the rank.
When the leader returns, hand over that list and ask them to define the backup-leader rules for next time: what you can decide, whether anyone is pre-approved for promotion, and where those approvals should be recorded. That replaces vague claims with a clear process and keeps you from having to guess.
